Good Website Design
There is only one thing worse for a business in this day and age than not having a website and that’s having a badly designed website, one of my quotes’s for all my potential clients.
Good web design is not difficult to achieve, it’s a case of getting a series of elements right. This is accomplished by keeping the visitor in mind, what does a visitor to your website want?
Firstly your company name and logo should be displayed on every page.
Secondly the website needs to be attractive to the eye using colours that reflect the theme and work well together, spending a little extra for professional graphics goes a long way. Also they want a quick to the point overview of what the sight is all about on the first page, not to long just a couple of informative paragraphs. This will assure the visitor to your website that they are where they want to be and will find the information they seek, thus leading to further navigation of your site.
Website navigation is the next issue, it must be easy to see and use, the visitor must never get lost be able to see and go to any page on the main menu from any part of the website. The website must be uniformed in colour, text type and size throughout; any dramatic change in these features can disorientate the visitor.
Other useful features for lager websites, e-commerce sites, websites with a range of products or services is a search facility.
Contact information must be easy to find and in some case’s a phone number and email address displayed on every page. User forms should be as helpful as possible with easy to choose options.
Keeping these simple facts in mind and with a little help from a professional web designer a good end result is achieved.
